The Review Named Pacemaker Finalist

The Review's faculty adviser David Nathan recounts how the staff reacted in the days following Hurricane Harvey:

When editors for The Review returned to school after Hurricane Harvey deposited 50 inches of rain on the Houston area, they knew that all the stories they originally planned for the first issue had to be put on hold. Covering the flood and its impact on the St. John's community became the newspaper's top priority, and that first issue, "Texas Flood: How Houston Came Together in the Wake of Harvey," was named Best of Show (Special Edition) at the 2017 JEA/NSPA Fall High School Journalism Convention in Dallas.

One year after Harvey, the National Scholastic Press Association has named The Review a Pacemaker finalist, the first time The Review has been recognized for student journalism's most prestigious award since winning a Pacemaker in 2015. Review editors for 2017-2018 featured the quartet of publisher Gracie Blue '18 and executive editors Ashwini Bandi '18 (Design), Claire Furse '18 (Writing) and Dani Yan '18 (Assignments). Faculty advisers are David Nathan, Shelley Stein and Chuy Benitez.
