Theatre

Curtains up! Students are introduced to theatre in Class Six with dramatic improvisation and pantomime. They also begin to explore character building, which is further developed in Class Seven when students are challenged to combine the spoken word with physical action. Public speaking, script adaptation, character analysis, and elements of acting are all emphasized, while theatre terminology is also studied.

By Class Eight, theatre connects the creative process with the performance event: through rehearsal and performance, the elements of action and dialogue, collaboration, and the roles of cast, staff, and audience are taught. Students may also choose to learn about the technical aspect of theater, including set construction, lighting, sound, props, and other special effects.

Students take part in a variety of performances throughout the school year. Check the arts calendar to learn about upcoming productions.
