Option 1: Study Abroad

School Year Abroad (SYA) is the only secondary level school in which American students live for a full year with a family abroad while earning U.S. graduation credits and receiving rigorous preparation for top U.S. colleges and universities. Every year, SYA sends approximately 60 eleventh and twelfth graders to each one of our unique schools in:

  • Zaragoza, Spain

  • Viterbo, Italy

Requirements

To apply for the school year abroad program, an SJS application must be submitted by December of the student’s sophomore year.

To apply for a school year in:
  • France or Spain - students must have completed at least two years of study of the target language, French or Spanish. 
  • Italy - we will accept applications from beginners, as well as from students who have already begun the study of Latin.

Option 2: Semester Away

Alzar School Cascade, Idaho (including expeditions to California and Chile)
High Mountain Institute, Leadville, Colorado
