Exciting News from St. John's Spirit Store - Startup of Textbook Buy Back program!
St. John's is pleased to inform you of new procedures that the Spirit Store is implementing this month to buy back Middle School and Upper School hardcover (only) books. During finals week, starting Monday, May 22 through Thursday, May 25, between the hours of noon and 3 pm, students or parents may bring books to the Spirit Store. If books meet the criteria listed below, you will receive student account credit for the buy back. Next week we will follow up with more details, including a list of the books that are eligible for buy back, as well as pricing information.
As a result of these new procedures, we will not have the Used Book Sale on Tuesday May 30, as previously indicated.
For this year, the Spirit Store will buy back hardcover books purchased from any vendor, as long as they meet the criteria. Starting next year, the Spirit Store will only buy back books that were purchased through the School.
The Spirit Store will be buying back hardcover books that will be used again next year and that are in the following condition:
- Covers- intact and edges not torn
- No water damage or missing pages
- Binding-not loose from the back
- Book edges-only up to two edges with writing
- Interior-minimal writing
- Highlighting--maximum of 3 colors
- No quiz answers
- No personal notes or drawings
In addition, during the summer, the Spirit Store is adding the option to order used books, to the extent they are available, as well as ordering new books. An email regarding the book ordering procedures will be sent in the summer.
**The Spirit Store accepts donations of any and all school books, hardcover or paperback, whether they will be used again next year or not, and will make sure the books are repurposed at the School or through other domestic or international organizations.
Because there will no longer be a Used Book Sale, the end-of-year Used Uniform Sale dates will also change (no sales will occur May 30). The Used Uniform Sale will now take place on two dates, Tuesday May 23 and Wednesday May 24 from noon-2pm in the Used Uniform Closet in Q205.
Thank you for your patience as we transition to this new textbook buy back process and stay tuned for more information coming soon.
