Kindergarten Teacher (starting August 2024)

St. John’s School is seeking talented, energetic, and knowledgeable Kindergarten through Class One teachers who are responsible for instruction in a self-contained classroom. In addition to relevant experience and a strong educational background, successful candidates must demonstrate a passion for working with elementary-aged students, an engaging teaching style, and a commitment to developing the whole child and furthering the School’s mission, including its strategic initiatives on community and inclusion. St. John’s seeks educators who are innovative and reflective, open to feedback, and eager for professional collaboration. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Act as an advisor for and instruct 14-16 students in language arts, math, social studies, and social-emotional learning.
  • Engage with parents to ensure a successful parent-school partnership that enhances the academic and social-emotional growth of their students.
  • Collaborate and coordinate closely with the grade level team and Lower School Curriculum Coordinators to ensure best instructional practices and content.
  • Contribute to the Lower School community by engaging in shared responsibilities and duties outside of the classroom.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of three years of teaching experience in an elementary program
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a diverse environment and a commitment to developing one’s own cultural competency in a community that celebrates and appreciates diversity.
